It is with a heavy heart that I share news on the passing of Rev. Vern Visick. He and I served together on many projects edifying to African Americans, Wisconsin, UW-Madison and the Madison community. In particular, I was honored to serve (1987-1993) as Minister of Music for Pres House on the UW-Masdison campus, where Vern was Pastor.
Here is a brief sketch of his life, work, and ministry: MADISON / CLAREMONT, Calif. – Minister, educator, scholar, ethicist, environmentalist, visionary activist for peace, social justice and earth care, the Reverend Dr. Vernon Mansell Visick, age 78, formerly of Madison, died unexpectedly in California, on June 18, 2017, following a brief illness. A collective of his peers, colleagues, family and friends will celebrate his life and service to others Friday, September 22, 2017 in Madison, Wisconsin. Final arrangements are being crafted with a formal announcement on time and location coming in late August.
